In winter, alkaline battery performance drops sharply below 32°F (0°C) and may stop discharging below 23°F (-5°C) in northern US areas such as Alaska, Minnesota, North Dakota, Maine and New Hampshire—this is an inherent characteristic of alkaline batteries in low temperatures. Performance fully recovers at normal temperature.
